Lion replaced "Save As" with "Duplicate" then "Save" in an attempt to reduce the chances of changing a file by mistake. Works well for me, but apparently not for others. According to some "Save As" will be back in Mountain Lion.

My problem is solved. If you hold down the oprtion key when you click on Save or Duplicate, Save As comes up as an option. But it only allowed me to save in iWork08

I used save as a lot as i'd crib from presentations to create new presentations - sometime opening a few different ones to compile. Usually i would do some work before saving as. This does not work in the new system as it autosaves your changes. The key is to duplicate instantly and rename if you are working from a file. I got caught out by habit here a few times.

You can get your original file back if its autosaved without you wanting it to by using the "Revert to" command.

I can see why they are doing it and am used to it now, but I still find it annoying.

I can't save as, neither does pushing control work.

Export seems to do nothing. It exports, but doesn't ask me where and doesn't show up in the original folder so I don't know where it exported to!

PLEASE bring back the Save As function Apple.

This drives me totally barmy, AND at times causing me to LOSE presentations!!!

If you want to modify a presentation and save it as a new version without losing the original, you must duplicate before you do any modification.

Due to the autosave function, any changes get saved almost immediately. If you need to keep the original, there is no alternative other than "duplicate" before you work on it.

If you work on it and when finished you "save as", this will work but all your changes will be in your original presentation as well.

once again apple makes things crappier.  autosave is great, do it like everyone else in the **** world and save it as "autosave.key"......  thinking twice about that iphone 5, this may be time to cut the apron strings.....

The shortcut for Save As in KeyNote is Shift+Command+Option+S.  Press & hold those buttons in order and you can now Save As!

The Keynote 6.1 is somewhat disappointing with some good stuff. Anyways, in addition to the Duplicate, you can actually use the Save As function... it is hidden tho..

Go to Help, and do a spotlight search for "Save As", the long-missing "Save As..." menu item will be ranked at the top,... you will notice that through this way, the Save As does show under FIle and you can use it; HOWEVER, after you exit the spotlight.. it is gone and replaced with "Duplicate". To me, this is worse than Windows.

I am not sure if it is a bug or somewhat a setting issue... but Steve, please come back to us...

Good luck everyone.. I have to say, I elected not to go back to Powerpoint because of the stupid ribbon thing... but I am not sure if I will go somewhere else because of the degarded iWorks.

By the way, to answer for another thread about save a copy to icloud.. using the Save As function.. you can select iCloud from the directory drop-down list. Cheers.

no, it is not.  not in keynote 5.3 at least.  replacing save as with duplicate is one of the stupidest things i've ever seen.  autosave is great, but save it with a different file name like everyone else has been doing for years.....
