My iphone 5 cannot connect to ITunes Store. Because of this problem, I am unable to update any of my apps.

I have tried resetting, adjusting the time (year), make changes to the DNS, reset to factory settings etc and still cannot rectify the problem.

Any advise?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.3

Today, I my iPhone connects to the Store without any problem!

I tried yesterday several hours to solve this problem, next time I simply wait until it works again ;-)

That was simply annoying and strange too, because my iPad had no problem to connect to the store at the same time with the same apple-id...

I pulled out an old iPhone 3gs to download apps onto for my kids but when I tried to login over wifi using my apple id, I received this error:

    Cannot connect to the Store

A secure connection could not be established. Please check your Date & Time settings.

I turned off the automatic time synch and set the date and time manually. Once I did this everything worked fine. Be sure to set the month and year. My phone had been lying around uncharged and had reset to 12/31/1999 which the app store would not accept.

To set the date and time go to the Settings app and click on the General menu item. Date & Time is a menu option towards the bottom of the list. Turn off the Set Automatically option. Select the correct month, day, year, and time. Afterwards you can set the Set Automatically option back on.

iTunes on a macbook air gives me the same problem. I logged into this website and can login to the store from Safari or firefox on the same macbook air and internet connection, but iTunes gives the error “could not connect to the itunes store. The host is down", and has been this way for several weeks (ever since trying to use iTunes on this machine to transfer purchases).

I have tried changing the date & time and changing it back to auto-set, but it did not help.

I cant connect either, havent been able to for several days.  Checked all my settings, everything is up to date on my iphone, ipad, and macbook...I can access any other website with no problem, have cycled my router several times with no problems, but this is not just hapenning at home, happens on cellular data too, and at a friends' house/wifi.  I can access the iturnes store directly from the app on my iphone and ipad, but cannot access my account from any device.  I cant get to a screen that asks for my password.  Completely stumped because I can't update apps or buy music.  Certainly don't want to pay Apple to fix what I assume is their own problem.

If it is Apple's problem, then you won't be charged.  If it's hardware problem with a device, or an Apple-side issue, then you don't get charged for troubleshooting.  And you don't get charged for calling and asking a question either.

    Or check http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/

See if the particular service is down.  Don't worry, there's no charge to click on that link.

I have this problem only on my pad. My other devices will work but not the pad. Even more confusing  I can update apps thru the store on my pad yet I can't download new apps. Then sometimes it works. No idea what fixes it. Any other suggestions?
