    An Update:

I purchased the Plantronics M155 white for my iphone 5. The sound quality is ok, not great. I haven't had a problem with connectivity yet, but I just got it. But there is a MAJOR problem: it doesn't work well with SIRI. When you hold down the button (takes a sec or two) SIRI comes on as expected. Then you ask your question and it just hangs... as if you were still talking. Will never detect that you are done and retrieve answer. You have to physically push the mic button. ***** if your phone is in your pocket and you want the weather, etc. I also tried this in a silent room so its not background noise causing this. This is a deal breaker for me.

With the Motorolla one, push the button and it instantly goes to SIRI... and works like a charm! Just wish it would stop this stupid disconnecting while on a call!!

Question: Has anybody noticed if this problem happens only while you are connected to WI-FI? My HX550 doesn't seem to do the disconnect problem while the WI-FI radio is turned off.

That's interesting about the SIRI, I only use the SIRI from the phone itself or from the car speakers  when iPhone 5 is paired to the car. I never tried it from headset because anytime I tried any kind of voice recognition from any headset, 90% of the time I had to repeat it several times and finally I would have to turn off headset and speak to the phone. Headsets always pick up background noise so that's a problem with SIRI or any voice recognition. I was going to, when I had time, go buy another Plantronics, a higher model (M155 is only $29) and see if it does a lot more and still not unpair. I still haven't installed the Plantronics Bluetooth headset app it comes with. Maybe that will help? Let me know because I need to buy another couple of more of these headsets in case I lose one.

With an Iphone 5, I had one HX550 that worked essentially fine.   It never cut out abruptly.

It got mislaid.  I got another HX550, and suddenly I had all these problems - it would randomly cut off every three or four minutes with a "click" sound.  This was with the same phone and same version iOS.   I've been shocked it was performing so bad, but now I found this post, and it describes my issues with a iphone 5 and a HX550.   I haven't checked if turning wifi off helps, but, the phone is entirely set up the way it was before, when the original HX550 worked fine.

Using the iphone 5 with the brand new ios 6.1 update - paired with the motorola HX550.

Those calling in to sound choppy but they can hear me fine.

And the worst part is Siri. I really wish it worked because winter in NYC you really dont want to take your hands out of your pockets to use your phone.

I press the Moto bluetooth MFB once and siri starts (Yeah!!)....i speak my command and wait and wait and wait....no response as if shes waiting for more from me.

I've done this in pin drop quiet rooms....she will only answer if i press her button on the actual iphone.

I was hoping the iOS 6.1 update would fix the pairing disconnect problem with my iPhone 5 and Motorola HX550 but the problem still exists. Come on Apple, you need to fix this.

thats weird, I have both the HX550 and a Plantronics M155 and the problem is reversed, the M155 leaves SIRI hanging and the HX550 works great with her. Just cuts out like on calls like everybody elses.

another update: Still using the HX550 and there are no problems as long as WI FI is off. Very frustrating... I also have the Plantronics M155 and I use it at home when WI FI is running so I can get access while talking, and then switch to the HX550 while traveling so I can leave phone in pocket and interact with SIRI (the M155 doesn't work with SIRI, leaves her hanging and have to push button on phone each time.)  Only positive is that both units use the same charger. I wish Apple would just fix it!

I have the same problem, with the same device. I am 99% sure I've experienced the cut out problem when not on WiFi (it's usually a shreek sound, then the audio cuts out. The other person can hear me though), while driving in my car (talk about inconvenient and dangerous).

    iOS 6.1.2 on 4S won't discover new HX550.

Read Motorola forums and tried each technique on this thread, still No Joy.

Request a reply w/solution from an Apple rep please.....

    I think I found a fix

Like many folks on this forum and several others I found while scouring the internet for a solution to this problem, the HX550 worked flawlessly on my old 4S. Many posts started out by saying "this worked on my 4S and it doesn't work with my new 5".  When I got my new iPhone 5 at the AT&T store, I jumped in the car, paired my HX550 and drove home. The HX550 did the "click" noise and hung up on several calls (wifi was turned off, so this didn't seem to be the problem as others above have mentioned). When I got home, I plugged into iTunes, upgraded iOS to the latest version 6.1.3. HX550 still didn't work. I tried to "forget this device", reboot, and re-pair. Still didn't work.

I wondered if this had to do with the order in which I paired my new iPhone 5 and upgraded the OS. On my 4S, I originally used a different bluetooth earpiece. I upgraded iOS as I went along. When the old bluetooth earpiece battery died and wouldn't hold a charge, I bought the HX550. With the iPhone 5, I paired it when the iOS version was still whatever it was when it left the factory and then updated iOS when I got home.

Today, I used iTunes to reset my iPhone 5 to the factory settings. Then I updated iOS. I loaded all my apps and synced my music, photos, etc. THEN, I paired the HX550. It seems to work now. I have not lost bluetooth connectivity even on long phone calls longer than 10 minutes (wifi is turned on and I've used Siri). Granted, I haven't conducted extensive testing over a period of several days yet. I'll report back in a few days with more testing/usage results.

    Good luck to everyone!

As I mentioned in a previous post, I restored my phone to the original settings, updated iOS, and then paired the HX550. I had good results with initial testing. I've now used the phone/HX550 extensively and still have no problems... even on calls that last >30 mins. It appears that the fix for HX550 on iphone 5 is to upgrade the iOS before pairing the HX550. Unfortunately, to do this, you'll have to wipe your phone and clean and restore to factory settings. It's a pain, but it works.

Before trying this, I purchased a Jawbone Icon after reading good reviews. It sounded lousy and Siri integration was cumbersome. The HX550 sounds much better and it much easier to use. I'm glad I was able to salvage my HX550.
