iTunes purchases & DRM

Hi-

My wife has an MB Pro with 10.6.8.

 

She purchased three songs from iTunes this week.

 

Will they be free of DRM ?

 

 

She needs to play each of them as .mp3s on PC powerpoint slide shows.

 

The PC Powerpoint program says something like 'not compatible';  'won't play...'

 

After she bought the songs on her MBP, she right-clicked and converted them to .mp3.

 

 

Suggestions...?

    Yes, they are fee of DRM.

    iTunes music has been DRM free for 4 years.

    Not true. Just bought Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" (April 19, 2013) and I can't play it because I have 5 computers "authorized". What a load of BS.

    Not true. You have other issues.

    If you could purchase it, you could play it.

    If it was DRM and you already had 5 computers authorized, you could not even purchase it (because you would need to authorize your computer).

    I clicked purchase. I was charged. The song downloaded to completion. I clicked play. I was unable to play because 5 computers are already authorized to play DRM'd tracks. I'm at work, otherwise I'd just de-authorize.

     

    I'm limited to 5 computers. That is DRM.

    I shouldn't have to be "authorized" to play anything post-iTunes plus era, right? Or do some songs still contain DRM, depending on the label?

    Correct. You should not have to authorize your computer.

    Right click > Show in Finder.

    What is the file extension? (you may need to right click - get info on the song file itself).

    It should be .m4a. If not, change it to .m4a and then try to play it in iTunes.

    Thanks for the reply. Sorry, not trying to get heated with you, but I'm pretty annoyed with this.

     

    Yeah. It's an .m4a.

     

    I just can't think of any reason for this, other than select few labels are allowed to release music through iTunes with restrictions.

    If it's .m4a, then it doesn't have copy protection. Copy-protected files carried a file extension of .m4p.

     

    A bit of a long shot, but try removing the SC Info folder. You can find instructions in this support article:
