TS1398 Why can my iPhone 4 connect to my Wi-fi, but my 3Gs cannot?

My Iphone 4 has no problem connecting to my Wi-Fi, nor does my Laptop. My Iphone 3gs though does not connect. When under settings, it shows my netwoek, but continually has the turning cog symbol displaying. Any help is a appeciated
