It's called OS X Mountain Lion - just make sure all updates are installed.
In any event, if you share files with windows pc/notebook, then download and install ClamXAV as penbank pointed out.
Read your post, very helpful. I do have a question about leaving your computer Firewall disabled if your behind a router or home network. I have a Apple Time Capsule and have my computers Firewall enabled. You stated that you should leave the Firewall disabled on the computer......would you kindly explain why to leave it disabled (are there advantage)?
