That totally depends on what you are trying to do
To move some photos you could use Flickr or email or many other ways
to move your iPhoto library and keep it the same Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
What is it you want to do?

Yes, basically I figured out I could email or use flickr to move some photos, but yes, I want to move a large portion -several albums- in my iphoto library to my new computer. I do have the new firewire cable I just didn't understand that I could drag the library to the new Mac. However, I don't want to drag then entire library- only many albums...

The only way to do that is with the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -

ok. not sure I want to go that route....
Probably what makes the most sense is that I make flikr albums and then I can view the photos easily online but What I don't understand about that is why I can't just download photos from flikr. It looks like I can order photos or email them and then from the email I can save as a file on my computer, but it seems a lot easier to be able to download directly to my computer and/or export to my computer....
Thank you for the info.

Can not give Flickr support - probably you will have to down load from Flickr to the desktop and then import from there to iPhoto - the advantage of IPLM is that is moves the original, edits, all metadate etc between libraries
