My computer won't go to sleeep at night.  I wake up at all hours and there is always the bright light from the screen.  I get up and shove the mouse into the corner for the screensaver - it bounces right back to bright screen.  I have set the energy saver in the system prefs to sleep after one minute - it doesn't work.  What is going on?  I hate Mt. lion!  So many bugs!

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Do you have the System Preferences set to Sleep for both the Battery and the Power Adaptor? And when you say you shove the mouse into the corner for the screensaver - not sure what you mean?

OK, I'm confused - Not seeing any options under Display Settings to activate the screen saver with the mouse....where is that in preferences on Mountain Lion? Is it under the Mouse setting? (if so, that's why I can't see it - I don't use a mouse....)

Wondering if you might want to try setting the Energy Saver Sleep option to, say, 2 minutes. Seems like having the Screen Saver and the Sleep options both set to 1 minute is a rather conflicting set of settings, since you are asking it to do two different things at the same time.....

Let me know if this helps....it's not Mountain Lion, so we need to dig until we figure out what it actually is....

    Cheers,

I love my trackpad....I have a Macbook Air, so no mouse needed

So glad you got everything working again! I just didn't connect what you were writing with "Hot Corners".....I don't use them either, so probably if I did, I would have figured it out right away!

Anyway, keep me posted if anything else goes awry!!!
