Q: Low battery warnings on a WIRED keyboard?

I have an iMac (mid-2011 model) running Mac OSX 10.7.5, processor 2,5 ghz Intel Core i5

I have a wireless mouse, I think it's the "magic Mouse"

I have a WIRED keyboard, wide, with numeric keypad on the right; wire connecting the keyboard to a port on the back of the iMac.

I don't see anyplace to PUT batteries in it, have never done so. There is nothing on this keyboard that can be unscrewed, , really nothing thick enough to contain batteries.

I am getting "low battery" warnings for my keyboard.... pop-up boxes on the screen, telling me to install new batteries ASAP.

System preferences says "keyboard battery level 15%". I don't find anyplace to tell it my keyboard type.

Do you have a wireless keyboard sitting in a desk drawer?

How are your mouse batteries?  Maybe it is confused about the source of the low battery.

Do you have the bluetooth icon on your menu bar.  If you have bluetooth devices, it should show you the devices and allow you to see the battery status for connected devices.

Reading the comments on "similar questions" gave me enough of a lead to figure  a solution. In System Preferences, under Bluetooth devices, there is a list of bluetooth devices connected. My list was apparently the "default" list, which assumed that I had a wireless keyboard. I deleted the wireless keyboard from that list, leaving only the mouse, and the problem ceased.
