Hi, see screen grab, quite frustrating, have had this numerous times, anyone know if this is a Mac issue or Garageband and what I can do to avoid it?

Thanks.

    Albert,

I see that dreaded warning in the following situations:

    • When the hard disk is running out of space - do you still have sufficient free disk space? Try to keep at least 10GB free on your system drive.
    • When too many memory hogging aplications are open. Launch the Activity Monitor (from Applications > Utilities) and sort the processes by memory usage; close the applications that need the most memory and reboot before you relaunch GarageBand. How much RAM do you have? If you have less than 8GB RAM, I would not run anything parallel to GarageBand.
    • I once had this problem, when incompatible software was installed. In that case you should see warnings in the Console window - some messages mentioning "Memory leaking". Then reboot.
    • In a few cases GarageBand really cannot handle the tracks. If you have too many automations added to a track, that require a lot of processing. Then convert the track to a real instrument track.

    Regards

Thank Léonie, I have only 4GB of RAM and so will try to only have Garageband running when using.  I have no automation however on two tracks, it seems very weak in processing power.

To check for memory leakage in Console window, is this a simple step?

My HD space left over is over 200GB also and so no problem there.

    Thanks.

The "Console" Application is also in Applications > Utilities. Simply launch it. Set it to show "all messages".

Press "clear Display" before you launch GarageBand. Then you will see easily, if there are errors caused by GarageBand.
