I did a reset, using an help app for iPhone 5, but generally applicable to iPhone 4s (which I have). It started with the little spoked wheel spinning in the center of the display.

1. It went over night; since it was in a place where I volunteer during the day until approx 8:30 PM, away from iTunes & computer and power! 2. I tried to bring it up the next day (still spinning). I didn't know how to bring it out but finally succeeded! How does one officially bring it out---is it a long time press of the home button, or what? 3. The reset in all that time did NOTHING AFAIK?

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.2

Where did you get this app? Is your phone jailbroken?

What do you mean by "reset"? What Apple means by Reset is to reboot iOS, which is done by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears, about 10 seconds of holding.

If you mean to clear the phone, it's in the Settings app, General/Reset - Erase all content and settings. This should take about 5 seconds on a 4S.

If you mean something else, what do you mean?
