I have some photos on my laptop I want to put on my iPad.

I've kinda only just figured out that Photo Stream stores everything that's taken on the iPad.  And amazingly, when I delete it via the Photo Stream folder on my laptop, I see it disappear on the device.

Very clever.

However, can I copy files from PC to Photo Stream and view them on the iPad?  It shows them in my Photo Stream folder via PC, but doesn't show on the iPad.  Or does it take a while to "update"?

I use DropBox which I know is similar, but Photo Stream doing this would be a little slicker.

Do I see what storage I am using on Photo Stream via my iPad?

It can take a minute or so for the photos to appear but I never tried uploading a lot of photos at once. In any event it should not take that long for the photos to show up on the iPad and unless your WiFi connection is very slow for upload speeds.

If you move a photo to the photo stream folder on the PC it should appear in the iPad photo stream album in the photos app. Once the photos appear in the photo stream you can save them to the camera roll on the iPad and they will not disappear from the device if you remove them from the photo stream.

Photo Stream will delete a photo from all devices of you delete it on any device. Photos stream keeps those photos in sync.

    maybe this will help.

You do know that you can sync photos to the iPad with iTunes - correct? And that you can sync over WiFi as well if that's important to you.
