Pages is freezing, how to close windows.

    Hi bananaknits,

     

    Force Quit.. from the Apple Menu

    Menu > Apple > Force Quit > Pages

    I know about the force quit but that does not solve the problem. The next time I open the application the same thing happens. Here is a screen shot. I'm thinking I need to uninstall and reinstall pages. I don't know how to do that. Screen Shot 2013-04-28 at 5.45.59 AM.png

    If an application used to work, and you haven't just installed an update, reinstalling is unlikely to be necessary, because corruption usually happens when writing files, and, once installed, application files don't get rewritten. Preference files and documents, on the other hand are rewritten all the time, so they are much more likely to be corrupt.

     

    In your case, Pages is trying to Resume a document that you left open the last time you quit Pages, and there is a problem loading that document. Hold down the Shift key while launching Pages and it should launch successfully, without any open windows.
