My screen back light is VERY dim ever since Genius techs replaced two keys on my 2 yr old Macbook Pro.  Any ideas for me before I drive the 20 miles back there?

You can try resetting the System Management Controller.

It's a long shot, but it's harmless and painless.

For that matter, you might try resetting NVRAM.

The above suggestion did not solve my problem.   I first tried the SMC. Btw, the keys that worked were SHIFT+CONTROL+COMMAND [not option] plus POWER....  Then I even tried resetting the NVRAM.  Nothing helped.  The screen light is still the same LOW level of light from the 1st onscreen light circle thru the farthest to the right. I have lost all light adjustment on this screen.  Any more ideas short of taking it back to a store for service?

If the F5/F6 keys don't work to let you adjust keyboard backlight brightness, check in System Preferences / Keyboard / Keyboard that the Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light option is unchecked. When in auto mode, the manual control keys are disabled.

If you meant the screen illumination, same applies except the controls are F1/F2 and the Automatically adjust brightness option is in System Preferences / Displays / Display.
