Are you absolutely 100% positive you bought it unlocked, and not contract free.

If the receipt says it is unlocked it will work anywhere in the world. But if it says "no contract" that means it is locked to a carrier, except that it doesn't require a contract. Apple corporate stores are the ONLY stores in the UK that sell unlocked phones. Apple Authorized Dealers, such as Carphone Warehouse, do not sell unlocked phones, ever.

If you bought it from an Apple store, the receipt says "unlocked" and it is not unlocked call Apple support and they should be able to resolve your problem. If it says "no contract" they have been known to unlock it also.

If the iPhone works on ALL UK carriers then it is unlocked and will work on any GSM Apple Approved Carrier world wide

There is no partial lock or Country only etc .It is a Carrier lock

The iPhone is either carrier locked to a Carrier or it is not and will theen work "anywhere"
