Q: How do I fix false positive spam emails in iCloud?

I don't use my iCloud account for any emails but work, so no one else has my email address. Huge numbers of emails - which are time-sensitive - get directed to my junk folder every day, dispite the fact that I've made my boss's email address VIP. I'm constantly going into my junk folder and re-filing emails in my inbox, but this makes no difference. Is there a way to tell iCloud to quit it with their BS and let me tell them what's spam and what's not?

Thanks,

~S

I'm only using iCloud as the e-mail address where I receive notifications from MX Logic. The email addresses being protected by MX Logic are not iCloud ones.

So MX Logic is filtering iCloud addresses

The email addresses being protected by MX Logic are not iCloud ones.

And now I got it, slow today

Make an iCloud alias, send the notification there.

I've done absolutely everything that has already been suggested, before it was suggested. My last resort was to uncheck the "Trust Junk Mail Headers" box as suggested above. This may end up being an issue because my decades-old Hotmail email is connected to my iMail app, and we all know how Hotmail is for spam.

In any case, it makes absolutely no sense that a sender made "VIP" should have emails automatically routed to Junk, even after multiple replies have been sent to them, on their multiple sent emails.

I've been losing money for months because of this glitch, you know, so I hope you don't expect my tone to be sunshiny and flowery, teeheehee. If I had any say, I'd be using an email my cellphone provider supplied because they were 100% reliable, gave push notifications almost immediately, and had no overzealous junk mail routing algorithms to intercept legitimate money-generating, time-sensitive emails. Alas, this is a service they no longer provide.

Meantime, hopefully the "Trust Junk Mail Headers" suggestion will work (and I won't be bombarded by decades-old Hotmail spam) because precisely none of the other tips have.

    Thanks anyway,

So you are saying that you have contacted iCloud support? And that they, what? Didn't help you?

WTH?? I thought this WAS Apple/iCloud support! I Googled it and it took me here. What a waste of time.

This is a user-to-user forum; experienced users can offer advice but of course can't actually do anything.

To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/

You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.

If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

If you are relying on email for business purposes then you aren't really best off using a free service, which is intended for personal use and has limited support. It would be worth your while to pay for a proper hosting service with a guaranteed uptime and an efficient telephone helpline.

    Thank you, Roger.

I don't have Apple Care, and as I said before, my cellphone provider used to provide a 100% reliable free email service that I depended on. I've just been having to double and triple check my junk box for missing emails.

Thanks for helping me out on this. Hopefully that "Trust Junk Mail Headers" box will do the trick. I'll find out later today.

I'm not going to take the time to look through the other messages on apple discussions. It seems clear from this thread that there is a problem with junk filtering with iCloud. I found this thread searching for the same issue as Red Sonia. I'm finding important messages repeatedly in the junk folder on iCloud, even after i have moved them out of junk, added them to my address book AND made them VIP. Multiple times at that! Clearly there is a problem with the system when you do what the instructions say and it continues to function incorrectly. And it looks like clearly Apple has no interest in fixing it. So much for "it just works."

I will check out option in Mail, and like most of the other complaints, this is happening server side in iCloud mail.

I'm having the exact same issues as you.  It's extremely frustrating to say the least. Shame on Apple for not fixing this by now.

    Having the same issue:

All junk mail settings are turned on in Mac Mail.  It's pretty rediculous that there are no junk settings on the iCloud site.

Worse, I've already marked the recipient that gets sent to junk mail as "not junk" but they still get moved there.  It's totally random as well... they can send me an email that says "hey how's it going" and it get's moved to Junk and then an email from them that said "Have a good day" won't be marked as junk.

And then, every day I get a bunch of "you should buy this stock now" or "I'm a beautiful woman from the ukraine who's looking for her match" emails that don't get marked as junk (and of course marking them as junk does nothing since it's the one and only time they will be sent from that email address).

I tried that. But the only optionproposed is "mark as junk".

So my mail which is acknowledged as NOT JUNK ends up in the junk folder. dafu— ???

if anyone could help that'd be nice please. what's the point of sending spam to junk folder if I have to dig my VIPs' emails out of there? it's like sorting out a spammed "normal" reception folder but backwards.

    thanks for your help.

    Find the option that says:

Trust Junk Mail Headers in Messages

    Uncheck it.

The legitimate emails sent from non Apple email domains, do not reach @icloud.com, @me.com, @apple.com, @mac.com recipients.

They are completely dropped by Apple, they do not go to “junk” etc, but simple deleted by Apple service without any notification to email senders or recipients

    Investigation:
We went for investigation to find out how the famous Aplle/iCloud  mail services and spam filtering works for others.

    For that:
    a) I have registered iCloud mail account for testing purposes - myemail@icloud.com
    b) I have registered 2 email accounts for testing purposes at the largest free email provider in Russia – Yandex.ru
    - abcd1@yandex.ru
    - abcd2@yandex.ru
    c) Testing messages are send using the same Windows OS PC (dedicated IP, not blacklisted), with Windows Live mail client, with the same message encoding, subject line and message body from those 2 Yandex.ru addresses - abcd1@yandex.ru & abcd2@yandex.ru to myemail@icloud.com

    Here is the magic:
    - Email sent from abcd1@yandex.ru to myemail@icloud.com is well delivered, but the same message sent from abcd2@yandex.ru to myemail@icloud.com - is not!
    - Messages sent vice versa  from myemail@icloud.com to abcd1@yandex.ru & abcd2@yandex.ru are both delivered
    - Reply on the messages from myemail@icloud.com is again well delivered for abcd1@yandex.ru, but not delivered for abcd2@yandex.ru

This testing was repeated several times, keeping time intervals, 10min, 1 hour, 1 day etc – the result is the same.

Anybody in this world could explain what is the magic spam filtering/false-positive/false-negative happens at Apple/iCloud spam checking service?!

Conclusions, listed below have nothing to do with the email deliverability problem to Apple/iClous mail accounts:
    - Senders domain names, emails and their reputations
    - Senders mail server configurations (DKIM, SPF, Reverse DNS resolution, spam checking's etc)
    - Senders message encoding, subject and message bodies

There is no clear resolution of this issue.
It is suggested to uncheck box “Trust junk mail headers in messages” in MAC OS users email client application

But this option is not available at web iCloud app and for non MAC OS users

There is no email contact, for all customers it is suggested to make a call 1 800 xxxxx

Not all customer worldwide could make call to Apple...
I would make a call if I am sure that this is a particular case, for the particular domain email delivery

But is is not, it is general problem

Sending message to support@icloud.com, abuse@icloud.com etc wouldn’t help, they do not respond
