Q: sharing

Dear All

Please advise... I have three Mac servers with me... I have configured 2 of them as open directory Master and I devided the users into these two servers....I have created share folders for user in bothe servers. Shared folders are mounting to each users accordingly..its fine... my issue is I want to use a common shared folder for users in both server. users in both server can access that folder and share things..I have tried with file sharing in third server and I can mount that for all...but i want to put some permissions.... So please advise ....How can I crteate a common share with different permissions for all users...

thanks

    Dear rajspeter

What a strange idea to devide your users in 2 groups !

For your question, what happen if you bind the 3th server on both 2 OD ?

Probably that they have the same range of UID, so in some cases (for ex with nfs) 2 users will access to the server with the same credentials.

    Bye

Ultimately you don't as one OD server isn't going to know about the other. Given your implementation you're bascially stuck with going with a public folder that's available to all… and I mean all. I typically prefer an OD master/replica solution where both servers have a full copy of the OD service and the services themselves are seggregated between the servers as you choose.
