Q: All the icons in my desktop are missing.

Something doesn't seem right about your screenshot of the Desktop. What are those light gray bars around the edges of the background image?

As I understand it, this happend immediately after installing Pathfinder, correct? Could you try the following?

1. Launch Terminal
2. Type defaults write com.apple.finder CreateDesktop -bool true
3. Press Return
4. Type killall Finder
5. Press Return

i have the same problem but i still cant find my files that i had on the desktop.what did u do to get them back.

i had exactly your problem. lost all my desktop files.
