I am using ipad with retina display. Just bought a mont ago.

Today I found an issue with it, check on video below:

The buzzing sound comes from the speaker when I type on the keypad.

Happened intermittent. I can't duplicate it any time i want.

But it appear once a while.

Anyone experience similar issue?

How to report this intermittent issue to Apple?

This happened to me also, retina iPad, wi-fi. Putting it to sleep and waking it up caused it to stop (for now).

    Did you find a solution?

It hasn't happened again. Could be the key click sound getting distorted. Maybe a software issue?

Bought an iPad 4 earlier this week from the Cambridge UK Apple shop and sometimes it makes that same buzzing sound. It doesn't happen all the time though. I have now switched it off and back on and for now I haven't heard it yet.

Have either of you had this problem again?

So you haven't had the same problem and today you experienced it again?

I am trying to get to the bottom of this issue. is it software or hardware related? I can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem anywhere.

ok my ipad 4 64gb wifi is doing this randomly.  has anyone tried doing a restore to see if it fixed it?  i would rather not do a restore and have it not fixed the problem.  i spoke to apple and they said to bring it in to a genius bar.  anyone had any luck with this?

just wasted 2 hours in the apple store with a 'genius'.  showed them all of the threads about this and the video on youtube.  they said since i cant replicate it in the store, there is nothing they can do.  they said next time it happens record a video of it and then switch to about so it shows the serial number.  great customer support for something i paid almost $800 for.

Many people posting on the threads relating to this problem myself included, have found this to be an intermittent problem. I believe it is related to a software issue, not hardware. Come to think of it, my ipad hasn't made this noise for over a month now.

I strongly suspect that if this was a hardware fault then it would be more obvious and frequent. Some have speculated it relates to the speaker 'going to sleep' and then waking up again, I don't know but it seems plausible and is a documented symptom on other similar devices to the iPad, which use similar speakers.

Intermittent faults of this nature, while highly annoying, need to be demonstrated to someone before they can be diagnosed. This is more common sense than anything and certainly not the fault of apple's geniuses. I understand your frustration but having had this issue with my ipad, I feel happy in the knowledge that I have 1 year of warranty and the possiblity of adding applecare in the future, something which is well worth the money in my opinion.

    All the best

Hi guys, had the same strange clicking sound appear on my 4th gen iPad over the last couple of days. The click would appear for the first couple of letters typed and again after a short pause in typing.

The first solution was to reset the iPad which worked fine but the clicking sound back again today. After looking online for a solution I stumbled across a thread for Mac computers with a similar problem.

The problem in that case was found to be associated with using google chrome and one of its plugins. I had been using chrome on the iPad yesterday to view some imbedded YouTube videos. So the solution was to check if chrome was open  in the background and close it, hey presto... Clicking gone problem solved...

    Hope this helps others...
