Geeze, does this really have to be spelled out for you? I'm speculating that if an adequate sampling of iTunes users had been polled before iTunes 11 dropped, those three features would have ranked high in popularity.

I didn't say a word about selecting people who have a gripe with the new version, etc.

Unfortunately speculation is all it is.

why do I need to run a 70 MB software monstrosity to listen to music on my iPod3 - Can I just connect my iPod to my computer and copy over a few files?

Csound1 you need to do a little googling. It's not just this forum, the 'net is crammed full with unprecedented unhapiness over v11. From forums to reviews it's mostly gloom. Try to find forums or sites complianing about v9 to v10 - not much out there in cached views. Try to find a 1400 hate-post about any previous version (aside from the real oldies).

I don't need to do anything, but if you have a point, link to it.

Come on guys. I dont like iTunes 11 too but I am growing tired of my phone pinging to alert emails only to have to read and delete messages relating to this exchange of words. Lets all agree to disagree. My opinion is iTunes 11 is poor which is why I am on this discussion. It has not wrecked my library but I detest loss of features such as cover flow, genius sidebar etc

Since the release of iTunes 11 APPL has gone from 589.36 to 442.32. Apple forget that every iDevice user has iTunes and use it one way or another. I don't think the decrease is down to iTunes 11 alone, but more like a trend that the company has ran out of good ideas, with iTunes 11 beeng an obviouss examle. Why revolutionize a program that is perfectioned over years? That sees a bit desperate to me. I work in a pretty large IT company in European scale, and we get smartphones as standard equipment (About 50% uses iPhones) . To this day I have not met one colleague that disagree with me that iTunes 11 is a downgrade. For some it is less important, for others a huge turn off.

The reason behind iTunes 11 must be making the program more touch friendly for future macbooks and new PC's with touch screens. I'm also pretty sure Apple will release big screens with touch in the near future.

While I think the future with touch looks pretty interesting I don't see it as a way of managing libraries and databases, and thats what iTunes is, at least for me.

My suggestion would be to develop iTunes in two different directions.

    1. iTunes (like 11, dumbed down, ads, fewer choices, free)

    2. ITunes Pro (like 10.7, everything customisable, easy to manage large libraries, maybe payable)

You can turn the notification off, perhaps that woud be the best thing to do.

Valid points, and you should express your concern to Apple.

Show duplicates WAS removed in their original iTunes 11, now it's back, but it wasn't always in iTunes 11.

I try to stick to what is available now.

    Csound:

The actual conversation about this new iTunes also includes

people's impressions of the program, especially those who

reviewed it (like I did) when it first came out. If APPLE has

fixed problems, I would think others (not you of course since

you know everything) might want to know that some progress

has been made on fixing iTunes 11 and that possibly, it

might change again to address concerns that others (again,

not you of course) might have with it.

I already know this, but why address it to me, you already know that I already know, you already said so.

Are you sure youre not part of an iTunes promoted scheme to get honest contributing folks to abandon this thread? Has anyone noticed the absence of our moderator besides me?

Sadly Csound1's childish and churlish attitude is making me unsubscribe from this thread. I wanted originally to find out how to remove a version of Itunes that I could do literally nothing with. I have enjoyed reading the ways people have found to get around these terrible problems and, yes, some of the more vocal rants. Sadly though the last few days posts showing an attitude worse than my 9 year old have just convinced me theres not much more to be gained. Having my email ping with yet another "I know everything and you don't because you wont post links" message is putting me off.

Fortunatly in a few weeks time Itunes won't be a problem anymore - I'm moving to Samsung. I don't use iTunes to play music - only to sync my iphone and if I can't do that anymore theres no point. I can get skype on a G4 and frankly thats more important to me. I no longer believe that Apple will come up with anything that won't be done by someone else with less hassle - and as I said above - I'll be able to do it without purile bleating in the background.

    Peace out.
