You can run software update for Iphoto, I'm running 9.2.3 for Snow Leopard which I think is the latest.
You can download here:
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply, much apreciated.
That didn't work for me. It said I had to go back to version 9.0 and start from there.
However, I could only get back to version 9.0.1, but that wasn't good enough.
Am I doing something wrong here?

Yhere is no info in your profile, so I am guessing you are running OSX 10.6.8 because of the forum that you posted in.
You should alos check as to which versio of iPhoto you are now running.
To get to Version 9.0 you will need to have iLife '11 installed, then you can do the updates to the current version, it is downloadable from the App Store for $14.95.
Hope this helps you out.
All the best

Thanks again for the quick reply.
Yes, I am running 10.6.8, but I can't get beyond that splash panel, you see above, to find out what version of iPhoto I have.
I will immediately down load iLife 11 and give that route a try. I guess all I have to download of that will be iPhoto, huh?
I do have a time capsule and as soon as I figure out how to bring things back from the past, I'll see if I can bring back an old version of iPhoto. That should be an interesting project.

You might as well download the thing as I don't think they sell it ala carte, you can always delete the other applications if you so decide. Garage band can be a handy easy to music editor as well as composing, and iMovie can be helpful for non-intensive video if you want to do quick stuff. Both of those are quite capable for hardly any $$.
You might also try posting this in the iPhoto forum, as there are folks there that really are well informed on the details of this application.
Hope this works out for you as you will need the newer version for updating into the future.
All the best.
Edited for spelling

Still seem to be in trouble.
It is possible to download only iPhoto, but not allowed for me. I get this splash panel
And I sure don't want to go to OS 10.7.5, that's when all my problems started.
Here's my system and it didn't like 10.7
