The terminal told me of 3 extensions...soundflower, kensington trackball & little snitch. I went to /System/Library/Extensions and found all 3 but only deleted soundflower and kensington first since those seem to be the common troublemakers. It worked. No need to go back for little snitch. Thank you! Best to go one at a time when you get your list to narrow down the culprit. Hope this helps others.

I ran the script (iMac running on Mountain Lion), my results were:

    com.kaspersky.kext.klif

    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver

    com.kaspersky.kext.kimul.44

    com.github.osxfuse.filesystems.osxfusefs

Like many others in here I have the same question ....

WHERE DO I FIND THESE FILES??????

or How do I delete them???

They are not in system/library/extensions like the post above and a regular search does not find them, so I guess they are in the "hidden" library, but where?

    Please help,

    Thank you

You may have some of your library hidden. Check out this page on how to reveal the library and see if these files show up....

You remove them by running the uninstaller for the software that put them where they are.

The uninstaller may be on the installer dmg. Check the software developer's website for instructions on how to uninstall.

    Hi all,

I started to experience freezes and crashes about 2 weeks ago on my MB Pro 13 inch, Mid 2012, Mountain Lion 10.8.3. The symptoms were as follows (happened not necessarily in this order):

    • Mail stopped receiving messages (and eventually made one or both of my mail accounts off-line - taking them on-line didn't work)
    • Calendar failed to synchronize / update Google calendars
    • Files opened from Finder did not open in their app - or to be precise, the app didn't start (just jumping in the dock and then stopped responding)
    • iTunes failed to quit (stopped responding on Command+Q)
    • Finder eventually stopped responding.
    • No new apps could not be run (except for Terminal) - just stucked jumping in the dock.
    • Restart / Shutdown failed to proceed.

So the only solution was to save all open documents in the apps that were still responding and then hold down power button to make hard shut down. And this happenned about every hour... Frustrating.

I tried several things like repairing disk persmissions or starting in safe boot, but nothing helped. After some googling and reading the forums, I figured out it's either related to some disk driver stuff (FUSE, MacFUSE, TuxeraNTFS, etc.) or to some wi-fi network issues. Some claim to have resolved similar symptoms by removing the Transmit app (I never had it installed), updating FUSE, deleting some plist file whis could not be accessed by Mail, or even clean caches by making the safe boot. Neither of it worked for me.

To make it shorter... I did following steps:

    • Reset all LittleSnitch rules (just backed them up and then deleted & now defining them from scratch)
    • Uninstalled MagicPrefs (althought this was probably not the culprit)
    • Uninstalled Western Digital SmartWare app & driver (first I had to upgrade it, because I installed it first on Snow Leopard and the uninstaller did not work under Mountain Lion no more)
    • And last, but may be the most important thing was to disable wi-fi syncing for my new iPhone 5! I think, this was the step, that resolved my issue. iPhone was exactly the new thing that I connected to my MacBook 2 weeks ago, when the crashes began. On a wi-fi network, MacBook sometimes sleeps and disconnects wi-fi for some time. iTunes were probably confused,  tried to find iPhone without success, looking like syncing, but the sync icon was not visible on the iPhone...

I hope this will help someone, too. I'm working now without any freeze for several long, blessed hours. Fingers crossed.

I am having a super slow finder in 10.8.

When I run the script I have the folowing running:

    com.microsoft.driver.MicrosoftKeyboard

    com.microsoft.driver.MicrosoftKeyboardUSB

    For my Microsoft Ergo Keyboard

    jp.plentycom.driver.SteerMouse

    For my Trackball

    com.razer.common.razerhid

    For my Razer gaming keyborard

    com.sonnettech.driver.SonnetSATA

for my Sonnet Tempo SATA E4P PCIe via which I run my SATA drives for editing

    com.SafeNet.driver.Sentinel

    How I run Lightwave 3D

    com.makemkv.kext.daspi

    For makemkv

    com.AmbrosiaSW.AudioSupport

I could remove this as I don't use it much for capturing audio

    com.nvidia.CUDA

    For my Geforce GTX 670

Any idea if any of these might be causing the slowdown?

Yep, the Mountain Lion, I domngraded my OSX and now I'm running the SL, I, again, became a proud and happy Apple User, but put this ML in front of me and became really upset, also it isn't possibel to finish a simple book chapter without rebooting at least 3~4 times in 24 hrs, ML is the 'Vista' of OSX. I really hope it became again a desktop OS instead of a giant translation of a touchscreen OS, to be used with a pointer.

Any of them could be causing the problem. Given that you have so many, I would uninstall all and then install one-at-a-time.

I've seen SteerMouse and Razer drivers implicated in Kernel Panics (KP), but not slowness (except for the fact that a kernel panic completely stops the Mac, which is really, really slow).

The drive controller may be the issue with the Finder slowing things down if it is not responding correctly. Every time you use an Open or Save dialog, the OS connects to the drives to get the info to display.

The SafeNet drivers were last updated for an early release of Snow Leopard, so could be incompatible.

DASPI is a "disk access mode," so that could certainly affect Finder performance.

I don't know about the rest. Some have had problems with the CUDA driver, but I think that was all KPs.

    Thanks for the reply.

When I get a chance I will try the different drivers and see if anything helps.

Hopefully SafeNet won't be the cultprit as without it I can't run Lightwave.

The DASPI for MakeMV should only be for reading disc based media.

CUDA is mandatory for my NVIDIA card and Premiere Pro.

I could live without Razer and SteerMouse if really necessary, but wouldn't be happy without Steermouse. I love it's trackball drivers.

My Finder still freezes up every day, usually once or twice a day, for about a minute or two.  I sure would love to know what it is doing.  I don't think it is the same problem that is happening to others here, because it isn't a crash or a complete freeze -- the Finder does come back.  Anyone know what it could be or how I could figure it out?

    Thanks

    Bob

    HI,

    Hi,

This is quite a common issue and it can be quite easy to solve

    1. Back up all of your data on your HD

    2. press command+space bar     and type in 'Disk Utility' and press enter

    3. Click on Macintosh Hd and press verify disk.

    4. If there are any errors, you will have to shut down your computer.

    5. turn on your computer and press command + r   while it is booting up.

    6. Press disk utility  and select macintosh HD and press verify disk

    7. After you press verify disk, press (in order) 'repair disk',  'verify disk permissions',  'repair disk permissions'

8.Once done, restart your computer. If the error still occours, you will have to reset it to factory settings and restore it from a backup. I will tell you how to do that if my first step didn't work.

    Hope this helps.

This solved my issues, so far.  I ran the command and found 2 apps that may be the issue.

I removed both apps and all related files.

Rebuilt kext/cache as 1 app had a kext in there.

Rebooted and all looks good. Its been 2 - 3 days without a hang so far.

Not sure which of the apps was causing the problem.  As I have not used either in a long time it was not an issue to removed them.

I attempted to put the app names in this post but kept getting the following error below.

You have included content in your post that is not permitted.

    Thanks for the help/assist.
