What is occuring is your system is having Kernel Panics. I suspect what is causing this is:

    com.logmein.driver.LogMeInSoundDriver          1.0.0

Please uninstall or update the application that uses that driver. Then restart the machine in Safe Mode (hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup tone until you see a progress bar) then reboot normally and re-test.

    Post back with the results.

That looks like bad RAM to me.  Which model iMac is this?

  • 3. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    brittany144 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    27-inch: 3.2GHz

    • 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
    • Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    • 8GB (two 4GB) memory
    • 1TB hard drive1
    • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB
  • 4. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    brittany144 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I have to use logmein for work... this is a work computer

  • 5. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    mcsound Level 2 Level 2 (245 points)

The RAM on the 27 inch iMac is user servicable.  You could try reseatting the RAM and see if that resolves the issue.

  • 6. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    rkaufmann87 Level 8 Level 8 (42,145 points)

OK please update the driver, you will have to work with your work's IT department or directly withLogmen. I suspect the version of Logmein is outdated and not designed to be used with Mountain Lion.

  • 7. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    brittany144 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Logmein is up to date unfortunately but i do suspect it may be part of the issue as i have seen it a lot

  • 8. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    brittany144 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

How do I do this and will it affect any of my files?

  • 9. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    mcsound Level 2 Level 2 (245 points)

Won't affect any of your files, but you should always have backup.

    Instructions are here

  • 10. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    rkaufmann87 Level 8 Level 8 (42,145 points)

Then you will need to ask your work for antoher solution, the one you have does not work. While its possible your issue is RAM related I kind of doubt it. I'd recommend running Rember to test the RAM.  You can locate it at www.macupdate.com

  • 11. Re: New iMac keeps Crashing
    WZZZ Level 6 Level 6 (12,205 points)

You needn't completely uninstall the program suspected of creating these panics. This may not necessarily work, but the worst that can happen is it will fail. Far better than completely uninstalling the full program.

For any of the possible culprit kernel extensions (.kexts), it is not necessary to completely uninstall the parent program.

You can temporarily uninstall any .kext, which may be causing the problem, by doing the following: Open Terminal in Applications>Utilties and copy/paste

    sudo kextunload

Important, leave a space after kextunload

Next, navigate to the /System/Library/ and select Extensions. Inside that folder, find the related .kext in question, which you should drag into the Terminal window. (After dragging it in, the file will stay where it belongs in its original location.) This will automatically fill the Terminal window with the name and path to the file.

This is an example only of what the full command will then look like; it will not necessarily be found on your computer.

    sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/PaceSupportFamily.kext/

Hit return. If you have never used the sudo prefix before, you will get a warning, which you can disregard. Then enter your admin password, which you won't see on the screen as you type it in and hit return. Wait for the $ sign prompt to reappear, which will indicate the extension has been unloaded. Then just close the window.

This will have the effect of disabling the program. If it fails to be the source of the problem, to reload/enable it, substitute kextload for kextunload, using the above procedure.

Other than that, have a look at this article on resolving kernel panics. Faulty RAM is a frequent cause.
