Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide has always been reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).

For what insane reason would you sell an iPhone without first doing all basic troubleshooting to rule out the actual device as the cause of the issue?

Now, you're whining about being told to do basic troubleshooting and basically refusing to do it.

    That is just dumb.

There is no update because there is no systemic reason for battery drain.  Common individual possibilities are an iCloud problem and, more often, a problem with an Exchange email account.
