Is Minecraft a Java application? I seem to recall so. Have you checked that you're running the lastest version of Java? It's got more holes than swiss cheese so Apple regularly disables older versions of Java.

1. Go into "System Preferences..." > "Security & Privacy" > "General"
2. Change the Gatekeeper option from whatever it was to "Allow applications downloaded from: Anywhere"
3. Launch Minecraft once.
4. Change the Gatekeeper settings back to whatever you want them to normally be set.
It's a problem with Java application stubs and Gatekeeper. Any other Java application you run may very well have the same problem.

I have the latest Java. do you know if this is specifically a Java problem or does Minecraft have spyware or adware or some other "ware" that I should be wary of?
