You need to select the iPod in iTunes. If the iPod is selected in iTunes, the commands under File -> Devices will no longer be disabled, because you have a "device" selected.
One way to select a device in iTunes is from the sidebar. If the iTunes sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES. Click it to select it in iTunes. Once selected, the iPod's Summary screen appears to the right. There is a Sync button there, and clicking that button is the same as using the command under the File menu.
If clicking the Sync button does not load your music to the iPod, that is because you do not have the iPod's Music tab set up to sync music automatically. Please post back if this happens...
Ok, I got the sidebar back (thanx for that), but my ipod isn't listed. I know exactly what you're talking about because now that the sidebar is back I remember seeing my ipod listed. So how do I get my Ipod listed???
When it iPod is connected, do you still see the heading DEVICES in the sidebar, even if your iPod is not listed below?
You said in the first post
It says it's syncing, but the new songs aren't there.
If you saw it syncing, that means the iPod must be recognized by iTunes. Where did it say the iPod was syncing? Did you click something to make it start this syncing? If so, what did you click?
