If you failed to backup your content, then it is gone.
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. it is designed to be synced to your computer/cloud service regularly.
Nothing should only be on your iphone. You will certainly lose it at some point if you do this.

I know what iphone is. Then you mean it is free and easy for Apple to reach any iPhone to delete contacts, ha? Are you kidding?
I didn't fail while backing up. I was simply using my iPhone, and all of a sudden my contacts have gone!

Someone else connecting their phone to a lap top on which you never backed up your iPhone could not possibly have had any effect on your phone. Especially if you, as most people would before selling a computer, wiped the hard drive.
