iTunes isn't recognizing my new downloads on season passes despite alert emails stating that a new episode is ready to download.  What could be the problem?  Thanks

iTunes isn't recognizing my new downloads on season passes despite alert emails stating that a new episode is ready to download.  What could be the problem?  Thanks

    have the same issue here with Mad Med Season 6 Episode 6 will not auto-download. Have verified all preferences and should auto-download. Have send feedback to iTunes Store but do not expect a direct rely. Right now am waiting to see when it gets fixed

    I found a solution ( for me ). Open iTunes/Preferences/Store/ and make sure check box beside "Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases".

    Dear iTunes Customer,

    Thank you for downloading the Season Pass of Mad Men, Season 6. You may have experienced issues with your episode downloads of "Inside Mad Men: The Flood" and "For Immediate Release". We have corrected the problem and a new copy is available to download, free of charge. To receive the new version, please re-download the title from iTunes.

    Before downloading the new version, remove the current version:
    1) Open iTunes on your computer.
    2) Click on your TV show library.
    3) Click the TV show to select it, and press the Delete key.
    4) Click Delete TV show and then click Move to Trash.

    To download the new version:
    1) Sign into the iTunes Store.
    2) Click Purchased on the right side in the iTunes Store under the QUICK LINKS section.
    3) Click on TV Shows and select the TV Season you want to download.
    4) Click the Cloud download icon next to the episode you wish to download.

    You will now have an updated version of the TV show in your TV shows Library.

    It is by design that the new episodes from season passes will not be availble via "check for available downloads"  You will now notice that the emails notifications have changed in the past 1-2 weeks from "check for available downloads" to "find them under purchased" to "click here to download" 

     

    So they are obviuosly either planning something big to change or cant make up their mind how to fix or band aid an issue with the "check for available downloads" and season passes.  As you may recall several weeks ago this functionality broke and was later resolved.  However when they resolved it... although many of us were downloading manually while it was broke... i got a tidal wave of many weeks of episodes acrsoss all my shows in the next "check for available downloads"  So I had to re-download about 20 epsidoes over again all at once.

     

    Who knows what will become of this.. but I have left feedback with the rep (who is still investigating why the "show itunes purhcases" in the cloud messes up your watched/unwatched episode and movie flags when you turn it on.  Also I provided proof that the setting was missing for a time and then came back and then messed up my library again. 

     

    Its been a very frusterating week to live and die by your season passes in iTunes.

    yes the "show itunes in the cloud" option does help make the new episodes quickly findable in your iTunes library.... but beware... it is not stable as you will see in the thread I linked to above. It can cause a great number of problems.


    Luckily the patient senior iTunes rep is checking into these issues with the engineering team.  I had a screen show that showed the option not only "shut itself off" but also completely disappeared from the Store table completely.  When it returned it painful altered my watched vs unwatched flags on all my video content.  I had to manually review EACH AND EVERY movie and TV show to make sure it was set with the right watched vs unwatched flag. 

     

    Maybe it is working beautifully for you because you watch your content as soon as its available.  For me, I may have 2 hours to watch TV one week and 10 hours the next.  So I get behind very easily, but then can marathon and catch up.  I also have shows I have bought season passes but not watching a single episode until my other shows close out and I am down to only 2 shows in the summer to watch a couple already played out shows.
