Take the iPad back to the Apple store and explain the situation to a genius bar person and see what they say about a replacement.

I live 2 hours from the nearest Genius Bar, not worth the trip if they won't replace.
Looked through warranty details I can't decipher policy based on replacement equipment, does anyone know the policy?
According to my math the exchange took place 70 days ago on 2/25.

I have never had to replace a piece of equipment, but my understanding is that the rlacement comes with a standard one year warranty from the date of replacement.
You could test that by filling out a service request in the ExpressLane and see Apple's response: https://expresslane.apple.com
