It looks like you didn't uninstall Avast properly. I recommend you to install Avast again, and then, follow these steps to uninstall that application correctly > https://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid= 1367&nav=0,56,59

I would agree with mende1. Resident security apps like Avast integrate themselves throughout various parts of the OS. At least, in this case, Avast does provide comprehensive step-by-step removal instructions... which is more than some of these companies do.

I've always thought I didn't need antivirus on a Mac until recently catching some viruses on my older Ibook and this current Macbook as well.
Anyways thanks for the advice, I will impliment asap.
