First create a new message and then format it as you would like, by adding text, lists, titles, images, and other details. Then choose the Save as stationery option from the File menu, and this format you have created will be saved under the name you use, for you to retrieve and use as a template for future emails.
Stationery essentially means "template." You should be able to drag images and other details to the Mail window and once the message is formatted as you would like, such as having a letterhead and logo for your company, then you can save it and this format should be retrievable from the "Custom" section of the stationery list (click the Show Stationery button in the toolbar to reveal this list). Selecting the stationery will create a new Mail message with the text and images formatted as you had saved it.
thanks for a quick reply again.
I just dragged an image into the Mail window. When I go to save it, I get this message:
"stationery can't be used because this message contains attachments that aren't images.
You can only use stationery only if a message's attachments are images. To use stationery for this messagem remove the attachments."
My attachment is an image, it's a photo that I'd like to use. I must be doing something wrong or
I found this link:
You can make a file into a template, or “stationery.” When you open a stationery file, a copy of the original is opened. You can edit the copy and save it, but the original file remains untouched.
- Select the file you want to use as a template, and choose File > Get Info or press Command (⌘)–I.
- In the General section of the Info window, select “Stationery pad.”
If you ever need to change the original, repeat the steps but deselect Stationery Pad. Then open the file and make your changes.
I can do steps 1 and 2. But I feel like there should be a step before 1.
This is what I tried:
I opened the email, selected "stationery" then went to my desktop where I have the photo file that I want to use.
I select it and chose File, Get Info.
I select "stationery pad".
That's it, but that's the problem. Nothing happens. Are there a few steps I'm missing or do I need to start drinking caffeine? Thanks!
