Calendar syncing, again. In some other post somebody recommended waiting 12 hours after deleting and recreating the account on the iPhone. This could explain my experience. Or Yahoo fixed something.
On the other hand here is the response that I got from Yahoo support:
"Yahoo! Mobile does not provide email technical support for Yahoo! Calendar. For more information on how to resolve your current issue, we have two places where you can get help:
• The Yahoo! Help site
• Yahoo! Answers"
They didn't give me a chance to ask if some other Yahoo function supports it.
I think it somewhat works on my ipad now. Although it's hard to tell, because the problem now spread to calendars.app on my mac.
The URL https://email@example.comfirstname.lastname@example.org/ encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct.
I readded the account several times already, to no use. I contacted yahoo as well but their support didn't really solve anything; in the sense that remove&add doesn't solve the issue for long.
Did remove, wait 12 hours and re-add really solve it for you?
The sequence was:
- Delete Yahoo account from iPhone
- Create Yahoo account on iPhone
- Wait about 12 hours for Yahoo to get around to downloading the calendar.
Can't say, yet, whether changes to the calendar through my laptop will show on the iPhone.
After I noticed the downloaded calendar this morning, opening email on the iPhone caused a Yahoo password prompt, which it rejected with a "Server Unavailable. Try again later." Attempting to logon to Yahoo on my laptop, Yahoo prompted me for my security questions and a new password, because my account had been comprised.
Therefore, again, I deleted and recreated my Yahoo account on the iPhone. I'm still waiting for the Calendar to download. If it's there tomorrow morning, I will be able to say that it's probably a reliable solution.
BTW, I'm trying to start another dialog with Yahoo to get an explanation for the statement that Yahoo mobile doesn't support calendar sync.
Calendar downloaded within a couple of hours.
I have a hunch about how this works. When the iPhone (or other mobile device) fetches the Yahoo calendar data, it only allows only a few seconds for Yahoo to respond and establish a connection (you can see this in the rotating 'internet busy' circle). I suspect that Yahoo's variation in response time to a calendar fetch accounts for the intermittent calendar sync behavior, which is probably a more process-intensive request than that for email. I've noticed, lately, that Yahoo's response time on my wired notebook seems to be slower--and, of course, recent denial-of-service attacks flooding the internet could account for some of that.
Therefore, to catch Yahoo at a less busy time, I suggest that we take literally the recommendation to "Set Fetch New Data to every 15 minutes...," as stated in http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&id=SLN6013&actp=search&viewlocale=en _US&searchid=1367847893091&locale=en_US&y=PROD_MAIL_ML , at least until the calendar has downloaded. (I normally run with Fetch = Manual.)
