I didn't find a way to solve this problem. It also happened once more since november, still on 6.0.1.

donok, fathom90, hbtiong,
Took my phone to technical support and had it replaced because of a "hardware malfunction".
Go to the support page on apple site and find the technical support address that suits you.
Hope this helps!

i have the same issue and ive gotten a replacement from the apple store and im still having the same issue. seems to be a software problem. almost everyone i know with an iphone 5 is having this issue. i hope apple can fix the problem instead of continuing to swap phones. ive tries to restore with and without backup. still the same problem. this is my first iphone and im very disappointed.

Are you using the scheduled "do not disturb" function?

it fixed itself without a iOS update. it was more than likely a common app that caused the problem and that app was updated. but i haven't had the issue in over a month...but no, i never activated do not disturb.

I am using Do Not Disturb - i'll try without using this. My girlfriend has an iPhone 5 too and is also experiencing this issue...hopefully it's just a software issue

I completely disable the "dot not disturb" option. This works for me.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 5 and iOS 6.1.4. Sometimes it crashes very often over a few days, then not at all for a longer period of time. I do not use the "do not disturb". I do use iCloud backup, which usually goes well. It never crashes when I carry the iPhone around in my pocket. Could that mean that the problem is related to the accelerometer?
