Same problem, greyed wifi after updating to 6.1.3.

Bluetooth not working just turning circles(not greyed).  An update should not contain a new bug.

Im not gonna buy iphone 5.

I have grayed wifi problem too.

Yesterday I put the phone into -18°C freezer for 20 min and then let him warm for another 20 mins. The WiFi worked again (did restore first). Then I connected to iCloud for restore data and after some gigs of data the wifi died again.

Today I put the phone to oven to 100°C for 10 min (started with 50, then gone to 70 and finaly to 100). At 100°C I turned off the oven and vaited for few minutes. Than I tooked the phone out and rolled in thick cloth and let it to cool down slowly (also restored the phone first and set it like NEW DEVICE (tnx support for this tip).

Now WiFi works again. I hope it'll stay online. In my case the MAC address of WiFI was always visible in about menu. I think there's a problme with antenna contact.

I called tech support for the umpteenth time and rep asked me, "what was up with me not buying the tech support?" in those exact words. WHAT?! She went on to say that Apple is aware of this problem and has developed a fix but can only supply it to those who purchase the additional tech support. I was beyond angry and informed her that this was unfair & unethical for those of us who have supported Apple. She stated she understood but that was the only option I had. I requested that my convo be taped and also stated I would inform others and encourage them to call in as well and demand a resolution to this since she admitted it was a problem created/uncovered with last update. Rep disconnected the call. Once again, I encourage all who come to this post to DEMAND that something be done about this. We may not beat the Apple Giant but we will at least irritate it and let others see the injustice involved and deter them from purchasing in the future.

I just got off the phone with support and it's excuse after excuse.  People don't notice right after the iOS 6.1.3 update, it must be hardware, people download apps blah blah.  I told her THOUSANDS of people are complaining about the WiFi being greyed out AND the battery loss.  She had no clue except for telling me to restore.  Did that.  And everything else.  Reset the Network Settings, popped out the SIM card, turned off/on everything but the blow dryer/freezer.  Now I have to drive 40 minutes to the stupid Apple Store so they can tell me the same thing and want me to buy a new phone.

Going to the store will just waste your time. I'm in the same boat.   iPhone 4s, updated to 6.1.3 and bam! wifi grayed out. My wife's iPhone 4s, purchased at the same time, not updated to 6.1.3 and wifi still good. I just got back from my local Apple store and my only option is to pay $199 to have it repaired. $199 to have wifi after updating the OS.

At the genuis bar, he introduced me to a gal sitting next to me with the same exact problem.

I could understand if this was a few incidences, i.e. got a lemon, but judging from this thread, many others, and sitting at the genius bar with a gal for the same problem...this fault product.

just put your iphone in the freezer for 15/20 minutes ... it works

My only working for few minute, after use wifi for a while it happen again.

I tried. .Only works for about 10 minutes

If the freezer/drying method works for some people then obviously the phone is overheating/cooling.  I am stuck in a dilemma now.  If the phone is overheating I might be able to do a warranty claim through Verizon which is still $150 for a refurb.  OR pay $199 through Apple for a refurb.  OR upgrade to a 5, lose my unlimited data plan, and pay $300/$400 (depending on 32MB/64MB), OR just wait and suck it up see if an update fixes anything.  I do have unlimited data problem is my signal is almost nothing at home and barely at work so my battery drains really fast.  This is just ridiculous.  I mean ALL THESE PEOPLE have the SAME PROBLEM and Apple is telling me all of our phones are having "hardware problems" after the iOS 6.1.3 update???

This is not normal. I have the Iphone 4s since December and now this happened to me too when I updated the IOS ...I put it in the freezer for 5 min and now it works again but I'm not sure it will last. Why Apple is not doing anything about it?

just tried it in the freezer after restting failed to bring it back on. Wifi was working tonight and randomly stopped connected then wouldnt turn back on.

After about 10 mins in the freezer i let it warm back to room temp turn back on and it will now turn wifi on and show up MAC address but it WILL NOT find my wifi network which i use on ipad and computer, even tried using personal hotspot on ipad and iphone would not find it... really annoying that this has happen out of the blue.

This phone isnt even a year old but it is a apple replacement since the original iphone 4S. dont want to pay for it to be fixed but if thats my only choice the Samsung S4 is looking really good about now!!

We all should revenge by use Sumsung Galaxy S4. I think Apple try to make us all buy iPhone 5 and won't fix this problem.

Unfortunately I hate the Droids so I am forced to get a 5 today.  My phone is really acting up now.  It's sitting on a ice pack so I can try to get some Wifi today while i'm at work.  I noticed a couple days ago the battery dies at 40 something %.  When I try to turn it on it says battery dead but when I plug it in, it comes on, then it's at 40%.  When it's on the icepack it loses Wifi when i run something like Maps, Facetime, or webcams.  This morning I was playing music in my car, I get a call and Bluetooth, and I can hear the person talking AND the music.  That has never happened before.  So i'm going to drop $400 on a 5 64GB today, PLUS $99 for extended Apple Care for one year, probably $75 on converters for the plugs and tax.  Lucky me.
