I had to force quit my iMac because, after more than 10 minutes, it seemed to be stalled. Upon restarting it, the icon for my external hard drive (on which I keep all my iTunes music) never reappeared, although all the others did. The drive is still connected to the computer; I never ejected it or disconnected it. The power light is lit. Does this mean I accidentally fried my hard-drive and it is unusable? I'm tempted simply to disconnect and reconnect it, but am afraid that will really do some damage. Fortunately, I back up the drive regularly, but would rather not go through the hassle of switching over to the back-up.
