Digital copy is useless to me until we get some way to copy UV to iTunes.

The way I work movies is to copy a movie to my iDevice right before going on a trip, then deleting it after I've watched it.   I can't store my library on an iPad, and Wi-Fi downloading of a movie takes hours.

I have just tried to redeem The Hobbit on my iMac. All seems very useless to me.

    1. Go to Flixter an have to set up an account (another password to rememberr; joy of joys!!)
    2. Then try to redeem code via UV, but that does not work as my password is not accepted (I though it said you could use the same credentials as for Flixter?).
    3. Look up help with UV password on Flixter Knowledgebase - it takes you to a dead page (http://support.ultraviolet.flixster.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=15266&tas k=knowledge&questionID=784)
    4. Go to UV and try to register directly there with the same email and password.
    5. Get an error message that, "The password you entered contains invalid characters. Please try again, using a combination of at least 6 letters or numbers, or both, but no spaces. Capitalization matters. It may include the special characters.". Except of course that it is a passord that precisely meets these requirements!
    6. I've just sent a grumpy email to Warner Home Video

Why can't I just access a digital copy via iTunes!!

Do I REALLY have to register with Flixter, THEN register with UV, THEN download something so I can view it on my iPad or iPhone!!!

Even if it all did work, are they kidding me!!!

    Hi,

I'm having an issue with two Ultraviolet Digital downloads.  So these are iTunes compatable, and I can see the downloaded movies in my iTunes library, but for some reason I cannot transfer these to my iPAD.  The error message I get is "Cannot be played on this iPAD".

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,

    Stacey

The problem is that the movie file is not in a format your iPad can play. Inevitably I suspect that was done intentionally to further make your life difficult for wanting to use iTunes over ultraviolet. Regardless it can be dealt with. All you need to do is get a file converter capable of converting video files into a format your iPad can play. However, I can't really offer more help than that without knowing which iPad you have (as in which generation it is), and what operating system you use. Somewhere on the Apple iPad page it will tell you which formats and resolutions are required by which of the 3 iPads to date, so if you're handy with computers, go there, see what you need, and then look for a software that'll convert the file you have into that output. I've done it on both my iMac and PC, so I know it can be done.

    Hope this helped!

The file format is H.264, same as iTunes movies.

The "problem" is that the movie contains DRM (Digital Rights Management) and will only work with Flixster.

There are some formats that can't be moved to the iPad.  I believe we can change that format from within iTunes.   What is the format of the movie - what is the name & extention of the movie in iTunes?

How did you get it to iTunes in the first place?    I haven't figured out how to get my Hobbit UV movie to iTunes.

How do you know for sure that the file format is H.264??? That may be what all iTunes movies come in, but if they got the file from another source, even if iTunes will play it, that doesn't mean it's in the same format, and even if it is H.264, there could still be an error because the resolution is off. I have had both of those issues occur in the past when trying to put videos from other sources on my iPad and iPhone, when the videos had played in iTunes properly. Now yes, I didn't think about the files being protected, but that's because the work around in iTunes for that issue is far more common. However, if the files only worked in flixster they wouldn't be able to be added to the iTunes library, so clearly that isn't the issue.

It does seem that spetravick is a bit confused.

Ultraviolet downloads will not go into iTunes library.

I have no problem getting digital downloads onto my devices.

If you read thru this thread, you will see that some movies are UV, some are iTunes Digital Downloads and some are both.

An update on  this in case anyone is interested...

    1. You need to have a password on Flixter
    2. You also need to have a password for Ultraviolet and it can be the same as Flixter but (as in my case) if your password does not match their specifications (which are apparently not those which ar published on their FAQs) then it needs to be separate
    3. Then you need to download an App to be able to stream the movie to your compatible device.

You definitely CANNOT view Ultraviolet movies in iTunes.

There is a Flixster application for OS X.  You can download it from Flixster's website: http://www.flixster.com/about/ultraviolet/

You are correct, sorry, I have amended the post to correct.

So, it doesn't work in iTunes which means it doesn't work on AppleTV. Not only that, the fine print says "standard definition", "locker access charge may apply one year after redemption"

This does nothing to convenience users, and everything to insult them. And is this stopping piracy? Not at all.

Would anyone recoment UltraViolet and Flixster as im new to keeping a didgital copy from a disc i have bought. Would I be able to download it from my computer on to my ipad for it to be in my videos folder? are UltraViolet and Flixster reliable?Do i have to have a Flixster account to have it on my itunes?D i have to pay for anything else or are there hidden charges? What are peoples genuine thoughts as i have read many negative reviews and dont want to make a mistake continuing to put my copy into a digital format? as i have put my redemption code in does it matter if i cancel it, will i be able to go back later and put it onto didgital format or wont it work as the code has already been put in (i havent finished the steps)?

    thanks

Flixster & UV have nothing to do with iTunes (the entire topic of this thread).

A Flixster account has nothing to do with iTunes.

You cannot add/watch UV in iTunes.

UV movies will not be in your Videos folder.

    You need the Flixster app.
