I have 40 songs on my Mac.  However, only 13 of them will download to my iPhone.  Why won't some songs download?

Might the other 27 have been purchased using some other Apple ID?

If not, what is the symptom of the other 27?  Have you tried to "synch all" and the 27 simply don't show up?

In iTunes on your Mac, find one of the 27 songs that did not download and control-click it.  Choose "Get Info" from the drop-down menu.  Look at the Apple ID.  My guess is that is a different ID from the one on your iPhone.

So from an outside perspective, that means there is an ownership issue, as someone else purchased the music.

You can rectify this on your Mac's iTunes by going to Store > Authorize This Computer ... in iTunes' menu, and entering that other Apple ID and password.  That song should then sync to your iPhone.

    Excellent - glad it's solved.

But that's a tough one to get a nice clean long-term solution for.  There is no way to, for example, transfer ownership from your old Apple ID to your new one.

So as the years progress and you end up replacing your computer, you'll have to keep this technique in mind and use it again as long as you would like to keep your older songs.

Anyway, glad it's fixed.  Enjoy your iPhone and Mac.

Your computer is authorized on (at least) one Apple ID and password.

You have to be sure it's also authorized on the older Apple ID and password.

Have you synched by plugging into iTunes since both were authorized?
