    Hello Jen

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If it does not work, check to see if you can download the Movie again. The following article will assist with that process.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519

If it shows that it can be downloaded again, go to your Movies section and delete the movie, then just download the movie again.

    Happy watching

Hi - I have the same problem.  I purchased several HD movies, but they will not play from within iTunes on my Mac.  My OS is 10.9.1, iTunes is 11.1.4.  The downloaded movies will play on my iPad just fine.  However, if I try to play them using an alternate viewer, such as VLC, I get the same behavior as in iTunes - the movie opens up to a black window, and it looks like the play button is clicked, but the movies will not play.

I have re-downloaded the movies and restarted my mac - but the problem persists.  Any help would be appreciated.

Forgot to add, I have de-authorized my Mac, and re-authorized it as well.
