Just remember they ran the 6th Generation model for 2 years (and maybe same for the 7th?) so they have lots of service replacement models available for the 6th gen. Might not be until the 9th generation.

Hi, I have an ipod nano first generation. It was a gift with a nice dedication. I want to replace it because I use it but do not want it to explode near me or something like this.
the problem is that the sixth-generation iPod Nano seem ugly and I would like that apple did substituting the seventh generation model which is the closest thing to my beloved ipod, relatively speaking.
With such a difference in the design of the models, the ideal would be that apple left to choose the model of substitution.

I just recieved the packaging. Ill try to list everything, including time, for anyone doing it in the near future. Today, Wednesday the 8th of May, I recieved the special box from FedEx. I requested it on the 6th or May, so 2 days into this adventure. Ill post some pics of the box and the nano Im sending back.

I was supposed to get the box today but I was not home at the time that they drop it off so I will have to pick it up tomorrow from their location. As soon as I do get it though, I will take photos of what I find in the box and will also post the status and dates of each item such as the box arriving the date that I sent into the box the date that a change to service and all the other service changes and as well, I will post whether or not it is a 7th gen nano. (crossing fingers, but with little hope)
I will say, however, that it took less than 2 weeks total, so you shouldnt have a problem, Ghgomes.

Hi Dadasmithywinkle, things were really fast for you!
I believe that now the hole process is taking less time than the previous years, based in what I read around the web. God knows why...
Anyway, 2 weeks total would be perfect...
But I have one question, are you from the US? Im in Canada, do you think time may differ from country to country?

Doesn't take God to figure it out, only a reasonable intelligent person. When the recall program was first announced hundreds of thousands of 1st Generation iPods were sent in and had to be processed. Now it is down to a trickle.

I got the package today. It was, unlike others had stated, a different box than I had sent it out in. Sadly, it was a 6th gen nano that I recieved. It is a silver, 8gb 6th generation with only a 90 day warranty. Ill post the repair status page below.

My apologies, but I cant access my repair account... =( Anywho, I sent for the box on May 6th and got the new nano on the 14th. Fast!

I received my replacement today.. My nano was just laying around in a draw I just couldn't throw it out.. It definitely had the overheating issue which I only became aware of recently (I just put it down to being a 7 year old iPod) anyway my replacement is a 6th generation nano with 8gb (which I assume is their lowest spec as my nano was a measly 1gb) looks new as far as I am aware although is probably a refurb.. I think it probably depends on what they have in stock at the time.. But I am absolutely thrilled with my replacement.. I was actually worried they would send a 7th generation which I don't like the look or feel of.. My new nano is sleek and has a beautiful display and I'm more than happy with the replacement.. This is an excellent program for those who have resigned there nanos to a draw like me.. However had my iPod been working as it should I would have been wary about sending it off for replacement as I was quite attached to the older model :)
