I've been having problems with my iPad and my macbook pro syncing my calendar so I got on here to check for answers... saw this one (and others) about correcting things via the libraries folder, but I don't have a folder by this name on my computer... what should I do?

It may be that you are missing the Library folder as it is hidden. Try clicking on the desk top to activate finder, then select the Go option from the menu bar on the top of the screen. With the drop down menu displayed press the alt key (between ctrl and cmd) and you should see the list of avilable folders expand to show the Library folder.

    Hope that helps.

Seem to have worked. Cleanest solution of them all.

Shame and pity to Apple for this problem.

After trying many suggested online solutions, and spending over 4 hours over the phone with Apple Support - who left the issue hanging - I finally have been able to fix the syn issue between my iPhone and MacbookPro.  Thank you diftong et al!!

OK, I thought I was a pretty capable Apple/Mac user.  But I've lost the syncing ability of my calendars between my MacBook Pro and iPhone 5, and in trying several of the tips in this string, I've found the following:

    1.  My "iCloud" and "*.me" calendars that were supposed to sync actually contain different calendar entries.

    2.  When I import my iCloud archive from my desktop, it seems to exist for a short while, then disappears except for subscription calendars.

    3.  When I import my "*.me" calendar archives, it makes my iCloud calendars disappear (along with the content that seemed to be specific to those calendars)

    4.  I can't seem to find any "Calendar" or "ics" files in my Library folder - which I was only able to access by clicking on my Macintosh HD folder in Finder

    5.  I don't know how to use the "Option+Go" feature in Finder that everyone is talking about - where is the "Go" button to click on?

I still have all my archives on my desktop, but this doesn't seem to be doing me any good since I can have *.me or iCloud but not both (and it's not even clear I can have iCloud since I can't get this import to remain).  Ugh.  Very frustrating.  Thanks for any tips...

Word of caution for all who want/need local sync. DO NOT UPGRADE TO MAVERICKS (OS 10.9) or you will be forced to use iCloud (No local sync through USB cable possible at all).

Unfortunately, RMH echoes my experience. Anyone know how to uninstall Mavericks and reinstall the previous version?

Dear NT* (and all others with this problem),

Unfortunately, I had to do just that (reinstall the previous version). It is rather easy if you use timeMachine, but it takes a lot of time and extra space on your drive that you run timeMachine on. You need to follow this document to the letter (http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11181?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US). Important: Do make a backup of the new situation just before reverting, because you will need to saveguard your documents that were produced in the mean time! Be aware that the reverting process will take a LLOONNGG time (in my case >5hr). Furthermore, following the reinstallation of your old system the next time you run TimeMachine, it will take even longer (in my case >12hr), because it will back-up ALL of your data, as if it were the first time you ran timeMachine. Also, if you (like me) started using the new version of Pages, your files will not be recognized by the old version of Pages (and this might hold for other packages). This however hinges on the fact that the new format encapsulates the old in a package, so if you open the package (option-click/right mouse button click) you can extract the portion of the file that IS readable with old version of Pages.

All in all, it's a 'bit' of a pain, but you will be ecstatic at the first time you sync your data locally again.

Also, if you started to use iCloud and want to step back, there are a few issues that you need to know about. These are discussed at length in this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5460803?tstart=0), but you have to dig through a lot of spamming and mud-slinging (worth your while though, and you'll soon find out who are the slingers, so ignore their posts!). Furthermore, an alternative solution was suggested in that thread that was moved over to this thread (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5549736?tstart=0) predominantly to get away from aforementioned mud-sling contest.
