I'm going in bad circles. Maybe because I cannot or refuse to accept the crazy loss of functions from iDisk to iCloud.

I'm confused.

I have a video file I made in QT. I want to send it to a friend. It's too large for typical email attachment so I thought I could use iCloud (similar to how I used my iDisk account).

When I use my Sys Prefs > iCloud, I see that I have 24.34 GB of 25 GB available.

Documents and Data is checked.

When I use Safari and log in to my iCloud account, I see 7 icons (Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, Find My iPhone (which I don't have) and iWork (which I also do not have the usual applications such as Pages.)

I do not see Documents and Data, which I assumed was where I would do this.

I'm not even sure if that's what I need but it seems the closest to it.

What I don't see is any way to upload my movie and then make it available to my friend.

Dropbox has been my alternative, and maybe I'm looking in iCloud for something similar - like simply dragging my file into (where?) then creating a link to it to then email to my friend.

For years I used Apple's iDisk and paid for the .Mac/.Me Internet space which allowed me to either create Web Sites using iWeb, or put things into folders and make them available to others.

I just do not see or understand iCloud's design for doing any of this.

I'm using a MacBook Pro with Lion; an iPadMini with iOS6; and a MacPro that iCloud does not talk to because it is running Snow Leopard.

I've resigned myself to the restrictions and necessary operating systems for full iCloud use, and chose to downgrade my MacPro back to SL after trying Lion and suffering too much damage and loss. But I kept Lion on my MacBook Pro, and added the iPad Mini hoping to keep access and use on those machines.

Yet….I just don't see how to do what used to be a simple thing with the older iDisk.

I've read and read and read and am tired of it. All the help files assume I am using applications which I do not have, or talk about other issues related to other devices. I can not find any direct information about using iCloud for storage and transfer, outside any specific applications.

Can anyone give me the easy answer: upload a file already created and sitting on my hard drive, and make available for download by others?

Thanks. .

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7)
