May 18, 2013 10:14 AM in response to léonieby peafam3,The thing is, when I pulled up Force Quit --- it doesn't say that Aperture is unresponsive. I'm afraid if I force it to quit, I'll lose the last pictures I was downloading --- they are of a 25th anniversary trip to Hawaii.

To check the state of your downloaded image files, ctrl-click your Aperture Library and select "Show Package Contents". You will see a Finder Window with several folders, one of them "Masters". In the Masters folder open the subfolder "2013", then "05", and then the date you imported your last photos. Are all photos from your anniversary trip there? If yes, then make a copy of this folder to keep them safe.
You may also want to update the TimeMachine backup of your system before force quitting.
