Hi all,

I have tried to update my iTunes to 10.5 and Quicktime to 7.7.1 but receive the invalid signature error.  I currently run Windows XP and have repaired the Apple programs in the control panel and re-installed Bonjour.  I'm not sure what to try next.  Please give me any advice that you have.

Try to download iTunes with a different web browser. Sometimes this helps.

    Try this:

    1) Start button > control panel > remove programs

    2) Click on Apple Software Update and repair it

    3) Try iTunes installation again

Hard to say, but you are definitely not the only one who has this problem.

I had the invalid signature error on itunes 10.5.3. I tried all the normal suggestions of changinging my network status to public etc. Then I turned off Kaspersky anti virus and it worked fine,  although be warned, the progress bar goes to about 70% then hangs there for five minutes seemingly doing nothing before it suddenly tells you the install was successful.

I'm on a dell vostro laptop running Windows 7 SP2

Some software from the web comes with an invalid signature, and it is by default programmed in Internet Explorer, Microsoft's web browser, to stop installing and running in the Windows operating system. This is a security action that prevents software with an invalid signature from installing or running. This is because it could be a security threat and harm your PC with a virus.

For your operating system to allow software with invalid signatures to run or install, you need to change some settings in the internet options.

    • You can access these settings either via the Control Panel or Internet Explorer
      • Start> Control Panel > Internet Options
      • Internet Explorer> Click on Tools> Internet Options > Advanced
    • From there, tick the box next to 'Allow software to run or to install even if signature is invalid'
    • Click on the OK button to validate your choice.

Let me know if it works

Just wanted to say that this article helped me immensely with my iTunes issue for an Invalid signature iTunes 11.0.3 update. Apparently as far as I can tell my new install of Internet explorer 10 went and changed all my settings under the advanced tab. Which even before IE10 I had never knew of or seen these settings before so I didn't even know what had ever happened. If you are having this invalid signature issue and downloaded programs in general are not installing after downloaded from Google chrome, firefox, or Internet explorer i recommend following the post above by anup.singh and then restart your computer and all should be well . Just wanted to post how happy I am that this helped me and suggest it to anyone with this issue.
