Go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info, then select Power from the left hand column of the System Profiler. Copy and paste the Battery Information from the top of the page back here.

That 865 cycles Replace Now says it all. You need a new battery.

You can get a new third party battery fairly cheap on eBay. Every MacBook from 2006 through Mid 2009 except the Late 2008 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 and 2010 White Unibodies use the same A1185 battery.

Or for $129 from The Apple Store  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA566LL/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

FYI, that charger you're using is not a generic charger; it's not a genuine Apple product; hopefully you knew that when you got it.

My MacBook Pro battery still charges fine, but the computer tells me to service the battery.

My experience with doing that is that sometimes it triggers the battery to stop charging.

Seems to me that it may be better to simply let the battery run down when that message pops up, but that's a hunch.  Thoughts?
