I have the same exact problem. I have an airport extreme and two airport expresses (new and last generation). One express is upstairs for wireless printing and one is in the basement for airplay to my stereo. Music skipping is horrible. I have at least two bars of signal no matter where I go. If I reset my iPhone 5 about 5 to 10 song play fine then the skipping starts. At first the songs skip then there are long pauses then eventually airplay disconnects all together.
I have noticed that the devices are frequently lost in Airport utility. As I am typing this airport utility is showing all three units with a yellow triangle with exclimation mark. I still have internet and everything is working. reset airport utility and still same problem.

Psuarmy, I am seeing the same thing also! (same as franq_g described) The only thing I would have to add is that my WiFi signal in the garage seems to have disappeared. A few months ago, I could use "remote" in the garage to control the AXpress in the garage. Now I have to go inside. A couple years ago I had no problem with "skipping" and "cutting out" and my phone worked great as a remote. Now, however, things are so bad that I don't even try to play music in the garage any longer...it's just too frustrating! Keep in mind that the garage AXpress is maybe 30' from the AExtreme base and both my ATV's seem to have similar issues. (they are even closer) with the ATV's though, after the "skipping" starts, they simply disconnect from the network. I get messages like "Home Sharing" is not turned on or "you are disconnected from the network" or, perhaps, the movie just stops playing, one of the previous messages is displayed for a couple seconds and then all is well again and I am back at the home screen. Also, I should mention that this is the same hardware I've had all along. It used to worke fine under the same conditions. I guess Apple wants me to give them more money. If things are going to work like this that will NEVER happen! Also, I should mention I've been an Apple-Zelot since I bought my Mac Plus back in '84.
Good Luck to us all!!
