Are texts that are being sent to 07786205094 without knowledge to do with apple and the FaceTime/iMessage activation? Why does this happen? Thanks

    What country are you in?

But whenever you change SIM cards, you will get a notification to activate iMessage and that ther ealso may be an SMS sent to complete the activation.

This seems to be the iMessage activation process only in Europe, the USA doesn't do this.

Hi thanks for your reply, I'm in the uk.

Does it also happen if you reboot the phone etc? These texts have been sent more than once after initial set up

How did you determine the SMS's were going to that number?

Have you talked to your provider?

Have you inquired apple regarding this?

For the USA (no sms activation is used) In Germany and Austria, once iMessage is activated, the phone does not send out any more messages/prompt for re-activation (unless you change your SIM card)

Yes I have seen people having the same problem on many other forums on various websites of uk networks and also on many tech websites that these are being sent when the phone it turned back on / after a reboot.

This is the first I've heard about it... so I have to play this thread by ear.

How did you determine the SMS's were going to that specific number?

    Who is your provider?

Have you talked to your provider for a resolution?

    Is your iPhone up-to-date?

    Have you called AppleCare?

It's a number I do not know and is not in my contacts, I called the number and it was no recognised so googled it. Brought up lots and lots of threads in various forums about it being the apple number for the FaceTime/iMessage activation. Some networks charge some don't (this is on the apple website on the FaceTime activation page) many people in the uk are being charged every time they reboot......it is classed as a premium rate number as even though it appears to be a uk mobile number it's actually classed as international. iPhone 5 is all upto date and running on the most updated version of iOS. Down to each network to decide if to charge or not for the SMS being sent.

I'm on 3 btw seems ... I've called apple and they have confirmed that this is the number used for the config data to be sent via for the FaceTime and IMessage functions.

    That's annoying.

I'm on 3 Austria and have disabled all premium-rate services. To-date all iMessage/Facetime services are activated and working properly.

Can you configure your 3 Account to not allow premium-rate messaging?

Yep I've got them to put a zero credit limit on my account so nothing chargeable can be made but seems my iMessages then go as SMS after I've rebooted my phone so can only guess its cos they cannot re config it

In Europe the activation of facetime implies a message to UK. I've seen it on my carrier. It starts with 444...plus something else.

Everytime you turn it off or on it will send the message. My carrier debits 0,26€ from my phone, and that message wich we don't see has a cost of 0,60€ here.

What has been happening is a lot stranger. You only activate it once.

I did that, but my phone sent 16 messages to the UK!!! I was loosing money!

My carrier doesn't support this so called bug. They say its a Facetime bug!

If it's really a facetime bug, then its an Apple IOS bug...!

The same goes with iMessage. Same process. If you change or take the sim, be ready to activate those again, with a minimal cost. Unless it sends several messages like mine did. I have an iPhone 4. No Jailbreak.

The weirdest thing is, both services are now working on my iPhone, BUT, underneath the facetime and imessage button it says: Activation Unsuccessful...!!!

    Anybody...?

Hi, I don't know what it is but I have also upgraded to iOS 7 this morning and had a similar number of messages from that number and I am also on O2!

Hi, little_night_music & whiterabbit18, I've exactly the same issue and also am on O2. I'm guessing, but the issue I think is linked to the problem I've got where my messages in iMessage are being sent with my email address instead of my mobile number. I've tried wiping my iPhone 5S and starting from scratch (set up as a new phone) but it just shows Waiting Activation in iMessage. Can you go into Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, and tell me if under Start new conversations from if it shows your mobile number? It doesnt on mine - and think these irritating texts from 07786 205094 / 07860 015000 are to do with this issue? Thanks

I've done that. The number appears. The activation is still unsuccessful!

The thing is, it works anyway...

I'm starting to think that the problem might be an hardware one.

    Cheers
