When I try to select a text[just one letter] the whole Preview screen goes blue, which I suppose means it has all been selected. That is what it says to do in the help Manual. The document has .pdf as extension so I don't think it needs to be saved as a .pdf, or does it? the help Manual,as usual is no help at all, since any major changes the last few years have never been told to the poor souls who buy this stuff,it used to work perfectly and then it all went bad, probably from greed. When I try to magnify or use the ` key the page keeps moving downwards, useless.

You can't edit pdf files with preview (Adobe Acrobat is required for that)

Other files (.txt.doc) etc can be edited in TextEdit.

Csound-Thanks for the reply, I don't understand why the Apple help for Preview says it can alll be done just like acrobt, what a abbominable Company Apple has become, I hope they go under from lack of sales eventually, if the  AMD chip replaces the Intel everyone will by law be required to buy all new hardware and software.

Please show me where it says that.

Do you have the link to that page, the part needed is where it says Related Topics, can't open that from a picture.

The instructions under Copy Text are correct, did you do it that way?

Yes, you can copy text, if there is text to copy. But, Copying isn't normally considered "editing." Editing implies changing the text. That cannot be done.

If the PDF just has an image of the text, but no actual text stored in the document, then you won't even be able to copy it because it isn't there.
