Q: √Safari can’t open the specified address. Safari can’t open “https://www.discovercard.com/cardmembersvcs/statements/app/stmtPDF?view=true&d ate=20120513” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “https:”.

When I visit certain sites, especially the New York Times crossword puzzle page (I have an account) and try to print the Special Sunday puzzle I get the message Safari can't open the specific address. Safari can't open "https:" It also happens occasionally at other sites. I have an iMac running OS 10.4.11

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

    Check Proxies ...

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.

Click:  Change Settings where you see Proxies

That will open the Network pane in System Preferences / Proxies for you.

If any of the boxes on the left are selected, deselect then click Apply Now.

Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
