Q: what if I lost my installation DVD?

I can't seem to locate my installation DVD? Is there a way to wipe my macbook pro (os x 10.6.8) for resale?

Thanks

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities

You should erase your hard disk and install OS X. If the computer came with Snow Leopard, call Apple to get replacement DVDs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 If your MacBook Pro came with an older version, install this version. You should sell the computer with the original Mac OS X version.

    After getting the DVDs:

    1. Insert the Mac OS X disc and hold the C key while your computer is starting.

    2. Select your language, go to Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility, choose "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the drive.

    3. Close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X. When the installation finishes, hold the trackpad while your MacBook Pro is starting to eject the disc and turn off your computer.

Remember to give the original DVDs to the new owner of your computer. He/she will need them to reinstall OS X in case of issues and to install iLife apps
