Jul 5, 2012 7:43 PM in response to Joe Fitzgeraldby Digital_Feat,Mark23,
Thank you this worked for me as well.
None of my preferances were saving.
When I ran "chmod -RN ~/Library/Preferences" (without the quotation marks) my Dock preferences where saved. But noticed my Adobe Bridge Preferences where not saving so I decided to run this on the whole Library and now everything works like a charm. **** what a hasstle this has been. And all the documentation out there by idiots with various solutions that didnt work!! lol
"chmod -RN ~/Library" (without the quotation marks) Worked!!

May 25, 2013 6:49 AM in response to Mardoekby riffraf,Have you taken the time to read the entire thread - which has been dormant for close to 10 months?
Have you tried any of what was suggested?
What were the results?
How does your situation relate to or differ from what has been shared here.
The fact is that there are several solutions offered, each of which worked for some people.
Without some effort on your part, it is unlikely that you'll see any more here.
Sorry if this seems curt, but your post is little more than "My tummy hurts."

May 25, 2013 10:26 AM in response to riffrafby Mardoek,My system: Macbook Pro with OSX 10.8.3 Mountain Lion
My problem was that the preferences in several application (Finder, System, Addressbook, and more) were not kept after changing them and loging on again.
When I added a new user account, then this new account did not have the problem.
The solutions suggested in this post, did not work for me.
My solution:
Assign the user with reading and writing rights the map: \Library\Preferences
